Streaming Horror Flicks You Won't Want to Watch Alone

Horror films are for life, not just for Halloween. Although scary season might be over for another year, that does not mean you have to put the horror movies away until 2021.

There are no doubt plenty of classic horror films available on your preferred streaming service, but what if you have seen all of those already and want to try something newer?

Here are a few more horror flicks that you most definitely will not want to be watching alone.

A Quiet Place

High-concept horror films can sometimes fall flat, but A Quiet Place certainly did not.

With an A-list cast of Emily Blunt and her real-life husband John Krasinski - who also wrote and directed the movie - A Quiet Place is one of the top horror films at the box office of recent years.

Set in post-apocalyptic America, it tells the story of a couple trying to keep their kids safe from terrifying sightless extraterrestrial creatures.

With A Quiet Place being such a big hit with both critics and horror film fans it was inevitable there would be a sequel.

While the release of A Quiet Place Part II had to be delayed as a result of the coronavirus crisis, it is now set to come out in April 2021, so there is still lots of time to check out the original.

The Platform

One of the best films from the horror genre to have been released on streaming platforms in the last couple of years is without a doubt The Platform.

This Spanish flick, which was directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, was released on Netflix earlier in the year after debuting at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.

The Platform's plot centers on a tower block and it was a huge hit for Netflix, which said 56 million households watched it in the first month it was available to stream.

That makes The Platform one of the most watched Netflix originals to have been released to date, while its favorable reviews can also be viewed on both Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.

Jigsaw

The Saw franchise has been a dominant presence in the horror genre of late, with 2017's Jigsaw arguably the best flick in the series so far.

Though it was not particularly loved by critics, Jigsaw brought in $103 million from a $10 million budget to show that Saw fans are still interested in seeing new stories in the same universe.

Why not double screen? If you need to take your eyes off the film for the scariest bits, it might be the ideal time to try out login at DogSlots. Lots of great options are out there and some of them are even available to play for free. Give them a go and see if you can get lucky.

It is expected that more Saw films will now follow as a result of the success of Jigsaw. The next film in the franchise, Spiral, will be the ninth Saw film when it comes out in 2021. Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson signed up to appear in the movie.

Gerald's Game

Horror fans have enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix, with anyone who loved them likely to get a kick out of watching Gerald's Game too.

Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan made both Hill House and Bly Manor. He was also the man behind the camera for Gerald's Game, which is based on a famous Stephen King novel.

Starring Carlo Gugino, the film is about a woman's fight to survive after her husband dies of a heart attack. Gugino's performance in the movie earned rave reviews.

King himself gave the thumbs up to Gerald's Game, which many people thought was unfilmable. The author said the film was "hypnotic, horrifying and terrific" after he saw a cut of the movie.

Hereditary

Only the truly brave would risk watching Hereditary when they are at home alone.

One of the scariest movies of modern times, Hereditary was the first feature film to be directed by Ari Aster, who went on to have another big hit in Midsommar last year.

Hereditary, which stars Toni Collette, is about a family coming to terms with the death of their secretive grandmother and the mysterious presence that seems to be haunting them.

A box office return of over $80 million from a budget of just $10 million for Hereditary shows just how profitable horror movies can be for Hollywood.

Just make sure you have some company if you decide you want to stream Hereditary.
