How to Watch Horror Using Cryptocurrency

Horror fans are always looking for something new and exciting that pushes away from mainstream conventions. Thus, it makes sense that many may have amassed some cryptocurrency. While ways to use this for entertainment are limited, there are ways you can use it to watch horror movies. Below, we detail the methods available to those with cryptocurrency in their wallet.

Streaming Services

The major streaming services do not yet accept crypto though it might not be long before they do. A wider trend in entertainment has seen a shift towards it, where everything from purchasing loot crates to playing crypto casino games has incorporated the currency. With the former, crypto makes a lot of sense as a payment due to its speed and secure payment methods. While the major services have yet to offer it, some other sites have begun to forge ahead.

Movies Plus is one of these platforms and is a smaller streaming service that has been growing quickly. While its roster of movies is small, they are of high quality, often looking to independents and concentrating on writing instead of big budgets and effects. Much of its programming offers alternate viewpoints, such as its documentary 'The Plot Against the President.'

Its horror titles are sparse and many of its thrills come from more psychological thrillers. However, its founder Corey Tucek is a staunch supporter of crypto payments and is using this unique selling point to grow the platform, so more should be added very soon.

Cinemas and Theatres

When visiting the cinema, Asia is pushing ahead with the ability to buy your tickets in crypto. Thailand's biggest provider, Major Cineplex, allows crypto payments in many of its larger theatres built around the country. This began in 2021 when it opened a brand new cinema in Bangkok. Paying for tickets is not that different to paying using a debit card.

South America, in particular Brazil, is also an area where you can visit the cinema and pay with crypto. Cine Multi is in the province of Florianopolis. Visitors need to install an app named Bancryp to make payments and they can then buy tickets fast and easily.

Alternative Methods

There are a few other ways you can watch movies by using crypto. The downside is they usually involve transferring crypto to other payment methods, such as a gift card. In the US, eGifter and Fandango are well-known websites that will let you buy gift cards using your crypto. In the United Kingdom and Europe, an option is LimonX which allows you to transfer digital currency for Netflix vouchers. A more global platform, useful for those in Australia and the Middle East, is Coinsbee.

It is unknown if the main platforms will accept crypto any time soon. Until then, your horror viewing and crypto may have to live as separate entities. However, things are beginning to change, and it shouldn't be long before you can use it to watch the most exciting and best horror films on the planet.
