28 Years Later
Danny Boyle's long-awaited return to the 28 Days Later universe is finally upon us.
28 Years Later, the first in a planned trilogy, finds Britain still grappling with the rage virus decades after its outbreak. Led by Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a group of survivors seeks refuge on an isolated island, only to discover a terrifying new evolution of the infected.
Cillian Murphy reprises his role from the original, while Ralph Fiennes also joins the cast. Filmed in stunning locations across the UK, with Boyle and Alex Garland back at the helm, this should be a chilling and unforgettable return to the post-apocalyptic horror that redefined the end-of-the-world genre.
Frankenstein
The Victorian legend of Frankenstein is one of the most popular cultural references around. 187 films have been created about the monster since the release of Mary Shelley’s nineteenth-century novel, not to mention numerous books. There have even been more niche references to it in more obscure entertainment settings, such as this online casino game.
The 2025 movie, however, is probably the most anticipated version yet. Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated Frankenstein adaptation will have a star-studded cast including Oscar Isaac as Dr. Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as his creation.
Del Toro, known for his dark style, has hinted that the film will rely heavily on the visual, emphasizing the beauty of decaying structures and the clash between creation and destruction.
While a theatrical release has been confirmed, it won’t be long before the famous old monster hits the silver screen again.
Final Destination: Bloodlines
The Final Destination saga hits terrifying new heights in 2025.
This reboot, directed by the dynamic duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, promises to deliver a fresh take on the franchise, exploring the world of first responders. A talented cast, including Brec Bassinger, Teo Briones, and Kaitlyn Santa Juana (plus the legendary Tony Todd reprising his iconic role as William Bludworth) are poised to deliver some spine-chilling thrills for FD fans.
Expect the usual: intense suspense, unexpected deaths, and a chilling exploration of fate as Death claims its victims in gruesome and inventive ways.
The Monkey
Get ready for a terrifying descent into darkness with The Monkey, Osgood Perkins' adaptation of Stephen King's chilling short story.
When twin brothers stumble upon their father's cursed monkey toy, a series of gruesome deaths begins to plague their lives. Years later, the brothers must confront the evil they unleashed, facing not only the terrifying consequences of their past actions but also the demons within themselves.
With a star-studded cast including Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, and Elijah Wood, and the visionary direction of Perkins, The Monkey is set to chill the hearts of audiences across the world, bringing one of King’s genius short stories to vivid life.
Companion
From the creators of the critically acclaimed Barbarian comes Companion, a brand-new sci-fi horror film that promises big things.
Drew Hancock makes his feature debut, and the film boasts a talented cast, including Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, and Harvey Guillén. The movie, perhaps predictably rated R, is expected to have some pretty gory stuff to go along with the sci-fi elements.
The result is set to be a mysterious and thought-provoking thriller that will have audiences’ heads spinning when it arrives in theaters on January 31, 2025.
Nosferatu
Ready to be consumed by darkness?
Robert Eggers, the visionary behind The Witch and The Northman, unleashes his most terrifying creation yet with Nosferatu, a haunting reimagining of the classic vampire tale.
Bill Skarsgård embodies the iconic Count Orlok in a performance that will haunt your dreams, while Lily-Rose Depp delivers a mesmerizing portrayal of the woman caught in his seductive grip.
OK, so we cheated with this one: Nosferatu may already be out by the time you read this with an end-of-2024 release scheduled, but we felt we had to include it.
Eggers masterfully crafts a gothic masterpiece, a symphony of shadows and dread that will leave you breathless.
With stunning cinematography, a chilling score, and a cast of exceptional talent, Nosferatu is an unforgettable cinematic experience that will leave you wanting more.
