4 Spooky Horror Movies Set in Abandoned Casinos

Everyone loves a good horror movie — especially when it’s set in an abandoned casino.

Over the years, there have been some truly great horror movies that take the protagonists to abandoned casinos. Here, lots of actions and mayhem usually takes place. Not to mention, you can also expect some jump scares along the way, too. So, if you’re a fan of horror flicks and casinos, you might be interested to learn about the best ones that are set in abandoned casinos. If that’s why you’re here, then you’ve definitely come to the right spot.

1. Army of the Dead (2021)

Firstly, let’s talk about Army of the Dead. Army of the Dead is the best (and most recent) horror movie that’s set in a casino. Las Vegas gets taken over by zombies after the main villain, Alpha zombie Zeus, breaks free and causes a wave of infection across the city. The movie never tells you exactly where Zeus comes from, but it’s suspected to involve Area 51.

The movie then moves six years into the future, and Las Vegas is essentially destroyed and shut off from the rest of the world because of the zombies. Scott Ward (played by Dave Bautista) is then recruited by Bly Tanaka, a billionaire casino owner, in order to retrieve $200 million locked away in his casino. To help him with this $200 million heist, Scott gets help from some old friends in Maria Cruiz, Vanderohe, Ludwig Dieter, and Marianna Peter. For good measure, he also recruits expert zombie killers Mikey Guzman and Chambers.

After this, the team gets to work — and the action truly begins. Along the way, there are plenty of intense moments as they fight to defeat the zombies and ultimately retrieve the money. A lot of the action takes place inside of the casino, such as on the table games floor, which is sure to make you excited to play some online blackjack in real life. You can play blackjack at spincasino.com/ca/ to get started. Thankfully, no zombies will be there to stop you!

2. The Haunted Casino (2007)

The aptly named The Haunted Casino is set in – yep, you guessed it – a haunted casino. After inheriting an old casino from his uncle in Las Vegas, Matthew decided to go and check it out with some friends. This is a big mistake, though, as they quickly discover that the casino is haunted by deceased mobsters who want their revenge. Do they get their revenge? You’ll have to watch to find out!

3. Remains (2011)

Remains is another fun post-apocalyptic horror flick. Set in Nevada, a random group of people finds themselves in an abandoned casino after a nuclear disaster has unfortunately turned everyone into zombies. Inside the abandoned casino, they must gather together and think quickly in order to survive.

4. Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

If you’re a fan of the Resident Evil game franchise, then Resident Evil: Extinction will be right up your street. Interestingly, it’s another movie set in Nevada. This time, a different hero named Alice joins forces with fellow survivors so that they can try to escape a scary zombie apocalypse.

At some points in the movie, you’re treated to casino shots as this tight-knit group makes their way through a Las Vegas that has been taken over by zombies. The cinematography is great and is a real crowd-pleaser for any Las Vegas gamblers out there.
